Hello, everyone! I’m a finalist again! My name is Álex Soto and I have been playing competitive Pokémon since 2013. In 2023 I specialized in playing hard Trick Room strategy, and in Bochum I played a version of my Liverpool team… without Paradox Pokémon! I introduce you to the team, I hope you like it!
Table of Contents
The Team
My Bochum team includes the same six Pokémon from Liverpool… but changing moves and Tera Types. I already thought that the hard Trick Room team was the best option before starting Regulation Set B, and even if I lost in the final, it gave me a very good result!
The idea of the team is to use Trick Room and try to win before it ends. If the strategy works out, you will be the first to finish the matches in a tournament!

Indeedee-F @ Psychic Seed
Ability: Psychic Surge
Level: 50
Tera Type: Grass
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
– Dazzling Gleam
– Helping Hand
– Follow Me
– Trick Room
Indeedee’s role remains the same as in Regulation Set A. It has the same moves and the same EV spread. Its function is to redirect moves or use Trick Room. In addition, its Ability boosts Armarouge and Hatterene’s Psychic-type moves, and also prevents the opponent from using priority moves. Indeedee is great! Also, with the Grass Tera Type, it prevents Amonguss from putting you to sleep!
252 Atk Tera-Ground Great Tusk Headlong Rush vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Indeedee-F: 130-154 (73.4 – 87%) — guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Kingambit Kowtow Cleave vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Indeedee-F: 152-182 (85.8 – 102.8%) — 12.5% chance to OHKO

Armarouge @ Twisted Spoon
Ability: Flash Fire
Level: 50
Tera Type: Dark
EVs: 228 HP / 76 Def / 148 SpA / 52 SpD
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 4 Spe
– Expanding Force
– Armor Cannon
– Wide Guard
– Trick Room
Armarouge is still the star of the team! Although in the Regulation Set B it’s not that good, as there are a lot of Dark-type Pokémon like Roaring Moon or Brute Bonnet… Still, it works great against more classic matchups like Dondozo or Maushold + Annihilape.
Its goal, in addition to using Trick Room, is to do as much damage as possible with Expanding Force. Wide Guard is for mirrors and for Gholdengo, Tatsugiri, and Snarl spam. The Dark Tera Type is for the mirror too, and also for Kingambit and Roaring Moon!
148+ SpA Twisted Spoon Armarouge Helping Hand Expanding Force (120 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Flutter Mane in Psychic Terrain: 136-162 (104.6 – 124.6%) — guaranteed OHKO

Torkoal (M) @ Charcoal
Ability: Drought
Level: 50
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 12 Def / 244 SpA
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
– Eruption
– Flamethrower
– Earth Power
– Clear Smog
Torkoal is the broom of the team. It is dedicated to clearing everything in 4 turns due to its incredible Eruption damage. Also, it is a very solid option against Dondozo due to its Clear Smog move. Although you have to be careful with some rival Paradox Pokémon like Great Tusk, since we will boost its Attack… The Fire Tera Type aims to increase the damage.
244+ SpA Charcoal Tera-Fire Torkoal Eruption (150 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Flutter Mane in Sun: 146-174 (112.3 – 133.8%) — guaranteed OHKO

Hatterene @ Life Orb
Ability: Magic Bounce
Level: 50
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 212 HP / 68 Def / 196 SpA / 28 SpD
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
– Psychic
– Dazzling Gleam
– Mystical Fire
– Trick Room
Hatterene is by far the best Pokémon on the team. Its offensive coverage is incredible and works very well in Regulation Set B. It is very difficult for the opponent to defend against Psychic-, Fairy- and Fire-type moves. Also, its Ability is great since you can’t even be put to sleep or Taunted, and that makes you comfortable playing against Amonguss. The Fire Tera Type enables leading it out in front of Gholdengo and enhancing the move Mystical Fire.
196+ SpA Life Orb Hatterene Helping Hand Psychic vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Flutter Mane in Psychic Terrain: 165-195 (126.9 – 150%) — guaranteed OHKO
196+ SpA Life Orb Hatterene Psychic vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Iron Bundle in Psychic Terrain: 211-250 (161 – 190.8%) — guaranteed OHKO

Kingambit (M) @ Safety Goggles
Ability: Defiant
Level: 50
Tera Type: Dark
EVs: 252 HP / 196 Atk / 20 Def / 36 SpD
Brave Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
– Kowtow Cleave
– Iron Head
– Sucker Punch
– Swords Dance
Kingambit is physical offensive pressure. In addition to working very well against teams with Arcanine, Roaring Moon, and Amoonguss, it punishes the turns that foes use Protect to stall out the Trick Room by using Swords Dance. The Safety Googles are considered to “dance” in front of Amonguss and Brute Bonnet. The Dark Tera Type functions as both a defensive and offensive Tera Type.
196+ Atk Tera-Dark Kingambit Sucker Punch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Flutter Mane: 140-166 (107.6 – 127.6%) — guaranteed OHKO
+2 196+ Atk Kingambit Kowtow Cleave vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Iron Bundle: 142-168 (108.3 – 128.2%) — guaranteed OHKO
+2 196+ Atk Tera-Dark Kingambit Sucker Punch vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Tera-Steel Gholdengo: 182-216 (111.6 – 132.5%) — guaranteed OHKO
+2 196+ Atk Tera-Dark Kingambit Iron Head vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Roaring Moon: 196-232 (108.2 – 128.1%) — guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Flutter Mane Dazzling Gleam vs. 252 HP / 36 SpD Kingambit: 58-69 (28 – 33.3%) — Miniscule chance to 3HKO
252 SpA Flutter Mane Moonblast vs. 252 HP / 36 SpD Kingambit: 93-109 (44.9 – 52.6%) — 22.3% chance to 2HKO
252 Atk Great Tusk Headlong Rush vs. 252 HP / 20 Def Kingambit: 174-206 (84 – 99.5%) — guaranteed 2HKO
252 Atk Great Tusk Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 20 Def Tera-Dark Kingambit: 174-206 (84 – 99.5%) — guaranteed 2HKO
Annihilape (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Defiant
Level: 50
Tera Type: Grass
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
– Final Gambit
– Close Combat
– Shadow Claw
– U-turn
The bomb. Annihilape is a Pokémon that solves the most difficult matchups, like Tyranitar, Tatsugiri + Gholdengo, Perish trap, etc. It is a very risky Pokémon, but with practice you will be able to always read the mind of your opponents. The Grass Tera Type is to be able to use Final Gambit ignoring Amoonguss’s Rage Powder… A good use for the Tera Type!
4 Atk Annihilape Shadow Claw vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Flutter Mane: 144-170 (110.7 – 130.7%) — guaranteed OHKO
4 Atk Annihilape Close Combat vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Iron Bundle: 138-164 (105.3 – 125.1%) — guaranteed OHKO
4 Atk Annihilape Close Combat vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Roaring Moon: 204-240 (112.7 – 132.5%) — guaranteed OHKO
Annihilape Final Gambit vs. 252 HP Eevee: 217-217 (133.9 – 133.9%) — guaranteed OHKO 😭
How to use the team
Opponent’s team | Comments |
---|---|
Goodstuffs | Always go out Indeedee + Hatterene, it is the best lead vs Roaring Moon. In the back, bring Kingambit and Torkoal. Kingambit does great against Amonguss, Arcanine and Roaring Moon! |
Teams with no Dark-type Pokémon | Lead Indeedee + Armarouge with Hatterene and Torkoal in the back. When the opponent isn’t using Dark-type Pokémon, Armarouge has a blast using Expanding Force! |
Lead Indeedee + Armarouge with Hatterene and Torkoal in the back. Torkoal does great on the bench, using Clear Smog then. It is important to switch to Indeedee when it is no longer useful, otherwise it becomes useless for the rest of the game. | |
If your opponent has Dark-type Pokémon, better go out with Indeedee + Hatterene; if they don’t, lead with Armarouge. Kingambit and Torkoal should be in the back. Great Tusk is a very annoying Pokémon to deal with, especially the Focus Sash set. That’s why we’ll have to leave it at 1HP and then we can finish it off with Kingambit’s Sucker Punch! |

Conclusion
I have lost another final, but I am very happy! Markus played me very well, and besides, that Gothitelle did a lot of damage to my team… It was very difficult! Even so, I think that reaching two finals in two consecutive tournaments is a merit. The team works very well and although I think that in Regulation Set C it will no longer work so well, I encourage you to try it, I’m sure you’ll like it.
